Sara Reyes

Executive Director
email: sreyes@teensuccess.org
phone: (408) 263-8330
Sara Reyes was born and raised in Silicon Valley. As a child, she worked on the apricot farms during summers, and as a young adult, experienced the tail end of San Jose’s historic Chicano cruising culture. She attended Evergreen Valley and San Jose City College. After taking a few years away from school, she returned, but this time as a 25-year-old single-mother of a son and pregnant with a second child. She worked during the day and attended the National Hispanic University in the evenings, as many young mothers do, until she earned a Bachelor of Arts in Liberal Studies. She then continued to San Jose State University where she earned a Master of Public Administration.

Ms. Reyes began her career in the human service sector working for the Santa Clara County Office of Education. She deepened her connections in the services sector with various organizations including school districts and City of San Jose’s Parks and Recreation. Catholic Charities of Santa Clara County (CCSCC) recruited her to their organization where throughout the years, her responsibilities and job titles evolved. As the Senior Division Director for CCSCC, she managed a $15M+ portfolio of programs and services including: family resource centers, after school and summer programs, youth centers, gang intervention and street outreach services, placed-based initiatives, adult re-entry and inmate support, homeless mail and service navigation, senior nutrition and wellness centers, and ombudsman services for nursing home residents across the county.

Along with her role at CCSCC, Ms. Reyes also held an Interim Executive Director position for the California School Age Consortium, a statewide organization focused on training, leadership development, and advocacy. She led the organization for 11 months during the executive director transition and served on the Board of Directors for 5 years.

Ms. Reyes is an American Leadership Forum (ALF) Senior Fellow Class XXX. She served eight years on the Voices Charter School Board. She also volunteered her time mentoring entrepreneurs for the Stanford University Latino Business Network Latino Entrepreneur Leadership Program for over three years.

Ms. Reyes enjoys traveling to visit her two sons, DIY-ing at home with her lifelong partner, and jogging with her 6-year-old Olde English Bulldogge.
