  Empowering teen mothers, transforming lives

Now more than ever

There’s never a “right” time to become a mom, but it’s always the right time to be there for one.

Jessica's college plans were set, until COVID-19 changed everything.

Jessica had big plans for the career she'd pursue after high school and what she wanted her legacy to be for her daughter, Janice. She was going to go to cosmetology school with support from a Teen Success, Inc. Scholarship, but COVID-19 changed everything.

Jessica's graduation isn't happening like she planned. She wasn't able to turn in her final school work because her school campus was closed and she's only 2.5 credits shy of her high school diploma. The cosmetology school she would've attended is closed until further notice.

When shelter-in-place started in the Bay Area, Jessica lost her new job, she's finding it hard to get baby essentials, and she's struggling with keeping her budding infant happy at home.

Everything has changed for Jessica and now she needs our support more than ever. Over the last few weeks, together with her Teen Success, Inc. Advocate, Jessica's advocating for her education and graduation with her school administrators. Her Advocate has been connecting her to resources for her young family, providing her with parenting kits, and brainstorming ways to help Janice's development along during this critical time in her life.

Jessica isn't the only young mother struggling because of COVID-19, but together, there is something we can do to help.

Join us for Now More Than Ever - May 7 & 8

The global health crisis is exacerbating the barriers young families in our community were already facing. They're coming up against unprecedented challenges from losing their jobs to being unable to meet their family's basic needs.

Now more than ever, they need our support to continue moving forward.

We are counting on our community to see young families through this crisis and help us ensure they have the opportunities and connections needed to continue on their pathways to success.

Our staff is working hard to support and connect young families with financial resources, mental health resources, supporting them so they can safely shelter-in-place, and finding ways to empower young mothers to help their children's development along.

Although we had to postpone our annual Scholarship Luncheon, we're still celebrating our young mothers’ accomplishments, looking forward to graduations with the Class of 2020 (including Jessica's!),  and continuing to invest-in and help build bright futures for young families. This campaign, Now More Than Ever, on May 7 and 8 is going to empower young families create those futures.

We know that no mother does it all alone and all mothers need our support right now. Teen Success, Inc. is committed to empower young mothers with the supports they need break the cycle of poverty and help them become the best mothers they can be.

Join us for Now More Than Ever and help build strong futures for young families.

What our young mothers say...

“Teen Success, Inc. encouraged me to build a healthy, trustworthy relationship with my son, and the moment I was able to achieve it, immediately it felt rewarding.”
- Analy Cereceres (16), Mother of Alejandro, Fresno, CA
“Teen Success taught me how to love myself as a mother and a person.”
- Lesly Henriquez (19), Mother of Addilyn, San Jose, CA
“I will be the first in my family to graduate high school and go to college. I dream of having my very own career. I would love to make it possible for my children to do the same.”
- Karla Sanchez (17), Mother of Mia, Reno, NV

Pregnancy is the number one reason girls drop out of high school. We're here to change that.

There are over 62,000 pregnant and parenting young women under the age of 22 in California. This is equal to the combined student population of San Jose State University and San Francisco State University. Only 38% of teen mothers graduate from high school and less than 3% finish college by age 30.

The young women Teen Success, Inc. works with face some of the most significant barriers to success – poverty, childhood trauma, housing instability, family and relationship violence, lack of access to affordable childcare, and the stigma of being a young mom. We are partnering with them to address these barriers so they can complete high school and pursue post-secondary education, and nurture their child’s positive development to ensure the success of the whole family

Young mothers are just like any other mother – they love their children and want to give them a better life. Unlike most moms, however, our young mothers are facing nearly insurmountable odds and now more than ever they need our support. We must meet their love and determination with support, skill building and opportunity so they face their challenges and grow stronger.

Please donate today and empower young families to overcome all obstacles.

You've made it this far, take it one step further.

Share this page with your friends and family and tell them why supporting young mothers and their children matters to you. Spread the word and together we'll have an even greater impact on young families!
