Teen Success, Inc. is making an impact on the lives of its program members. Delaying an additional pregnancy while a teen, completing high school and developing social and emotional assets are the goals of the program for its members. In the 2012-13 program year, we measured the effectiveness of the program in regard to these goals.

Here are the results!

Members in our program reported a 44% increase in birth control use during 2012-13. By preventing additional pregnancies, our members are better able to focus on their first child's development and on their own dreams and achievements.

"Most of our members were not using any form of birth control when they started the program. Now, by the end of they year, almost all of our members are using birth control," says Sarahi Ovalle, from our partner organization Nuevo Comienzo in Orosi.

Nationally, only 51% of teen mothers graduate from high school, but 84% of our members are enrolled in high school and are on track to graduate. Teen Success, Inc. is working closely with our members who are struggling to reenroll and helping them navigate the barriers for their reentry to school.

In focus groups conducted with our members, 98% reported feeling more able to reach their potential, 95% felt supported in ways they are not getting anywhere else and 87% are better able to identify and achieve education and career goals.

We will continue to work on improving our program to better serve our members and their children and see they have the confidence, support and resources they need to succeed in school and in life.
