Teen Success, Inc. is proud to honor 10 new recipients of the Teen Success, Inc. Scholarship this year. Every year, Teen Success, Inc. members and alumni can apply for a competitive college scholarship to pursue their post-secondary education. Since 2013, we've awarded 31 scholarships to teen mothers pursuing higher education.
Our graduating members have worked hard to become the best version of themselves, the best mother, student, employee and friend she can be.
Despite the odds, family hardships and financial constraints, these young women have persevered to achieve their dream of going to college. One thing all our young college-bound members have in common is they want to set a good example for their child.
“I want to be able to provide for my son, become self-sufficient, and ultimately be someone that he can be proud of.” –Monica, 2017 Scholarship Recipient
On a national level, only 2% of teen mothers of finish college by the age of 30 and just 38% finish high school. Our program teaches our members how to navigate and mitigate the barriers to pursuing their education, including: childcare, advocating for their educational rights, and setting a balanced school, work, and home schedule. While there is no single prescription for how it’s done, the skills our members gain in their peer learning groups and with their one-on-one coaching sessions are combined to ensure her success. It is in every young teen mother’s power to live her life and raise her family as she sees fit, empowered by everything she learns during her time with Teen Success, Inc.
We are very happy for all our graduating members this year and excited to see them pursue their dreams.
