Scholarship. (PALO ALTO, CA) – Rising Above, Teen Success, Inc.’s 6th Annual Scholarship Luncheon, celebrates 10 outstanding young mothers going to college with a Teen Success, Inc. Scholarship. The luncheon is being held on May 8, 2018 at the Palo Alto Hills Golf and Country Club. The event is for the scholarship recipients, their children and families, and supporters of these young families who want to make a difference in their communities. Teen Success, Inc. empowers young women who became mothers in their teens to rise above their challenges and achieve their full potential in school and as parents. The program is highly impactful with 95% of young moms who complete the 18-month curriculum going on to graduate high school. Nationally, only 38% of young mothers are able to graduate high school. Judy Miner, the Chancellor of Foothill-De Anza Community College District, is delivering the keynote speech about the challenges young parents face when pursuing post-secondary education and what it takes to be successful. ![]() Viviana Arenas, a 2018 Teen Success, Inc. Scholarship Recipient from San Jose, is sharing her story about what it took to get back into school after giving birth to her daughter Maya and her vision for her young family’s future. Likewise, Karisma Senegal, another 2018 Scholarship Recipient from Fresno, is sharing the challenges she’s overcome as a young woman and mom to her daughter Zendaya and why she dreams of defending those who cannot defend themselves. More than 250 community stakeholders, business people, and supporters of the organization
representing Silicon Valley, the Bay Area, and the Central Valley are expected at this year’s event to celebrate the young mother’s achievements. About Teen Success, Inc.: Teen Success, Inc. is a non-profit organization founded in 2011 by former State Senator Becky Morgan. The mission of Teen Success, Inc. is to help underserved mothers and their children become educated, self-sufficient, valued members of society.
